I didn't say it was wholly genetic, nor do the authors of the book to which I linked. However, to accept without question that we inherit a myriad of traits from our parents (hair color, eye color, height, predisposition to certain diseases, the list goes on) but discount intelligence from that group is foolish in the extreme.
Of course intelligence has a genetic element, and not everyone is equal. However, your intellectual potential may be limited by your genes but you need the correct environment to achieve that potential.
Is it that certain races have a lower intelligence? Or is it that certain races don't get the opportunity to achieve their potential due to their environment?
The problem with IQ tests is they depend on culture and education, they are not perfect by any stretch of the imagination. I bet an IQ test of 10 year olds in down-town Bagdad would yield lower results to a test in a the suburbs of a US or European city. The government wants to make sure that, as online piracy moves increasingly to streaming, the law keeps up with the activity. Currently, "reproducing" and "distributing" copyrighted works are felony charges, and they cover peer-to-peer file-sharing.

What do you think about this? I personally agree with what the full article points out, streaming is like holding a public performance without a proper license which is not a felony.

I was maybe 300 in a line of 500+ at Willow Bend Mall. Waited 5 hours, got to spot 50 from the door, and they ran out.
The sad thing was the lack of information being provided by Apple to us waiting in line. There were maybe 150 in line still when they clearly ran out. The line sat unmoving for about 45 minutes when news was finally announced that they ran out. I don't understand why they had us stand there for 45 minutes to tell us they were sold out?
During past launches, Apple passed out free water, or took inventory counts against the people waiting in line. This time nothing from Apple but a bunch of Apple employees that had no idea how much inventory they had until they were all out.
I don't know why they didn't allow pre-reservations, either, this time around.
So this launch, in my opinion, was a little wild and disorganized compared to launches of days past.

Great, now I can obsessively hit F12 every three hours to see how I'm doing rather than reloading the EOC site.
FYI, I've found you can have multiple instances running with different users in each. Now I can keep track of Dreadnought as well...:)

well.. I was a sucker hoping for an authentic kit. My wife really wanted a white iphone, and I bought this kit to convert a regular one as an x-mas gift.

I understand why people like iOS, and it is useful for a lot of things. Productivity is far behind novelty/entertainment at this time, but iOS will become far more versatile when the portable hardware ups a few leaps.

Microsoft just confirmed the leak from yesterday. The new version of the Xbox 360 is shipping now, and will be in stores later this week. Details are fairly slim as of right now, but here is what we know so far...

Can anyone see any difference between medium and high/ultra settings?
I have the latest MBP and apart from a small amount of glow here and there, I see no difference.

The difference here is Samsung settled. With $1billion at stake, Apple will likely fight this to the end. And with countersuits on the line, this will get ugly.

A MacBook trackpad does NOT need a click to register.
You can change the settings so that you do not need to click at all, it simply takes your touch as a click. I use it in this way all the time, I NEVER click the touchpad.
+1 I also never click the trackpad.....I hate the clicking noise and it takes too long, much easier to tap.

And with its increasing maturity and acceptance, Mac OS X - and subsequently iOS - has continued to attract them and the illusion that those �ber-geeky nickpicky details were the most important thing in the world.
Products - and not just Apple's but any technology - could be powered by hugs, rainbows and unicorn kisses running on a half-core processor and the normal person wouldn't care, as long as it's easy and enjoyable to use, and lets them do what they want to do without having to think about how or why it works the way it does. They don't care about the nuances of the definition of "Retina Display" or debate the conspiracies behind charging $0.99 for FaceTime (they'll either buy it or they won't). A computer is a toaster. They want to put bread in and get toast out.
It used to be that every computer was a box with a monitor attached. When iMac came out, people said "well it's all very nice, but my needs are special and I could never use an iMac. I still need a fully-loaded five-figure tower." Similarly, laptops were underpowered and people still used a desktop to get the "real work" done. iMac is now well and above its original base-model station, and the specs of laptops now make them desktop replacements, with laptop growth carving a big slice out of the desktop market. Likewise, while iPad and even iPad 2 are possibly not going to be all anyone will ever need, iPad 3, iPad 4 and so on will close the gap. But like iMac was back in the day, iPad is the right direction for the new segment - an appliance - and will evolve and mature.

Wouldn't using the "extra" electricity to power fans to decrease heat lead to less "extra" electricity???? :rolleyes: I hope they really think this through - and I'm sure they will. Of course powering fans isn't the only use for electricity.

My parents just got there, my mom is awesome (swap out with her once I get there). My dad said that they were around 20-25 in line, and within 30 minutes there are now 25 people behind them...so 50 people total (rough estimate.) So I am not sure but I am guessing that line to be over 100+ people around 1ish....I am shocked so many people are there so soon. Maybe its just me though....maybe this is normal....
