Wow, I haven't been anywhere but here for a really long time, I'm starting to solidify I think. I spent some time in Europe long before the wall came down, but then again the Huns were still roaming around - or was that dinosaurs...
We'll give ya' a while to get set up before we set the hounds on ya' :D In the mean time maybe you have a calculator or abacus you can use in your spare time, ya' know, foldingbyhand I think it's called :p
Cheers and welcome back!
I appreciate the welcome back! The Navy has had me all over the world this last decade! I'm going to Norfolk, Va for my last couple of years before I retire. Hopefully my wife will have her college education completed by then and I can stay home and play "Mr. Mom"........and goof around with Blender and the farm full time (oh, and tinker with my cars too:D)!!

Good so.
It's the return of the Mac, Steve Jobs said it so, so let's focus on Macs now and iPhone in second plan for this year at least; it's already a huge success, so...
I don't think Apple can continuously afford to do that though. Everyone can see that Android is making a stand and a strong one at that. Improving market share more than others still while some are even declining. Spec wise, Android phones are the highest on the market with quite a few dual core handsets out right now.
I'm personally waiting for the Galaxy S 2 to hit the states so I can upgrade to that.

$1000 worth of a beating he'd get if i were his parent. Luckily for kids, i hate them and would never have one. Ever.
I'd elect to send him to law school to make good on the debt. But then he'd run the risk of turning into a Washington politician. Now *that* would be a tragedy.

LOL@ people that really expected this service to be free.
As if it doesn't cost apple any money to keep the server up and running and to hold your data.
Cloud services are a joke because there are so many places (at least in my area) where you cannot even get 3G speeds because the signal quality is so poor.
Furthermore, the area I work at blocks out cell reception so it would be pointless for me.
Another point is once this Cloud service is made they won't even bother updating iPod/iPhone capacities because they'll want you on the cloud service so they can get you to pay monthly fees for capacity.
Cloud storage is a terrible idea for multimedia storage.

What about MACBOOKS?!
Hmmm.... let's see. Release two products and get ~1 week worth of press OR release 1 product followed 1 week later by another product and get 2 weeks of press.
And don't be that annoying "Make everything huge" guy.

Does this mean we will get a longer battery live than the previous one?

They sound good. I sat there for 30 min and compared these to the more expensive ones, and honestly I couldn't really tell the difference for the level I will be using them at.
I might still take them back and give the klipsch promedia 2.1 system a try.

VMWare sent (http://www.vmware.com/) an email out for a private beta testing of Fusion, their upcoming virtualization product for Mac OS X.
Dear Beta Customer,
We are pleased to announce Fusion Friends and Family release. Fusion is the code name for the new VMware desktop product for Mac. You are part of a select group of users with the opportunity to experience this new and exciting product first hand.
TUAW posts (http://www.tuaw.com/2006/11/03/vmwares-fusion-begins-private-beta/) details from the private beta site. Notable features listed include:
Ability to create and run a wide variety of x86 operating systems on OS X without rebooting.
Access physical devices from the virtual machine. You can access physical devices such as CD ROM drives, video cameras, iPods, printers and high-speed disks from the virtual machine.
Leverage Virtual SMP capabilities to gain additional performance improvement. You can assign more than a single CPU (on supported hardware with Intel Core Duo CPU) to gain additional performance for CPU-intensive workloads.
Run over 300 virtual appliances: You can download any of the over 300 virtual appliances - preinstalled and preconfigured applications packaged with an operating system in a virtual machine - available from VMware's Technology Network. Setting up a wiki or blog server has never been easier.
Fusion supports all Intel Mac hardware, including the new 64-bit Mac Pro and iMac.
A screenshot of the beta VMWare Fusion application can be seen here (http://images.macrumors.com/article/fusion.png). A beta signup form (http://www.vmware.com/whatsnew/macsignupform.html) appears available, but the response is not immediate.

Having worked very closely with the head engineers of AT&T, I do feel sorry for them. As someone stated earlier, that are spending billions to upgrade the network, but all that money will only meet current demand in some areas. The iPhone is such an incredible success that AT&T never had a chance. The same would be said about Verizon had they got the exclusive contract. If you want to lay the blame at anyones feet, it should be Apple. They should have made a CDMA version and split the load between the networks.
So, ATT saying they are building up their network is really just a PR bandaid? That fits my experience with the company.

The update of 0.2mm seems reasonable. 1mm was a joke.
From the new comparison pictures, it looks like the top plate is responsible for the slight difference in thickness. Perhaps it isn't popped together tight enough? I'd try squeezing it really hard.
I wonder how much variance is present in the black model actually. I mean if you measured the thickness of several black iphone 4 models from different batches. Perhaps there is variability and this will occur with the white model too. Or perhaps the white is very slightly thicker.
As it is so small, this is not a problem. As the link in the update points out, most cases fit. The few that don't will have to be altered by the manufacturer. But I have to laugh at comments about owners of iphone 4 cases having to buy new ones for the white iphone they just bought to replace the black one. I seriously doubt that is happening to any great degree. And for those few who are buying white iphones 6 months or less after the black just for a new color, they are not going to complain about having to buy a new case. Suddenly after buying an expensive iphone just for the new color they are getting a sense of frugality? Right.
Now on to better topics:
1. Where is the white ipod touch?
2. When will the ipod classic get a hard drive upgrade?
3. Will there ever be an ipod tough 3G/4G? Will it double as a mifi?

9 To 5 Mac's discovery is quite interesting as it shows that this is a recent and updated iPhone with an A5, rather then an old iPhone 4. Maybe the new iPhone 5 will bring some more carriers for the Americans, help slow the loss to Android?

it still wont run on hulu
But the hulu plus service runs just fine (http://www.hulu.com/plus#devices) on the iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad. There is no technical reason why regular hulu can't run on your iOS device. It's a financial decision by hulu.

So, it all comes back to the point that these are tools. It's what the tool is used for that makes it a professional tool or a consumer tool. And I'd guess that MS Word is used quite a bit as a consumer tool, and Pages is being used as a professional tool, too.
I understand what you are saying but are you really going to call "Vi" a pro app for word processing and say that it fully replaces Word. You can use any app as a tool to create a professional product.
Apple labels iWork as a "consumer level" app. not me.
My definition of a "Pro level" app is one that has industry maturity, is excepted as standard industry wide, has many many features which allow it to be versatile and is useful in a variety of professional industries. It probably isn't the easiest app to use because it isn't focused to just one industry.
I would bet you that not .1% of printshops, publishers, lawyers, engineers, etc. even know what a .pages file is let alone are they working with it daily.

That is all
Enjoy the version of Android that comes on that thing out of the box. With all the HTC bloatware and Android fragmentation you'll be lucky to ever see a software update.
