4S. I like the name, and it makes sense to keep continuity with the previous naming scheme (3GS). I guess we'll see a true iPhone 5 next summer.

Just wondering how Japan perceives Apple as a company - if anyone knows. I know they don't like Microsoft (as in Xbox). I can't imagine they sell many Apple computers over there. Ipods a different story?

I hope Lion will mark the end of DVD drives in all Macs ... they can be an additional option so that whoever needs one can pay for it - I don't have any need for it and Lion should be available as download and USB stick. I haven't bought any software on DVD in ages - I will always opt for downloads - DVD is a technology from the last century.

I agree. The most problematic components in a computer in general are the mechanical ones, and at this point, the only mechanical component that most likely will never be removed is the fan. Mobile devices on the other hand have even done away with that. These are interesting times. I rarely ever use the optical drive anymore, in fact, I have not used it in months... Virtually all software is available online via the mac app store or some site somewhere, and the only things i use the drive for anymore are OS restores from time machine. Same issue of lack of sun over here, too. I like the feel of this posed shot. I think it would be a bit stronger if the watch face were more visible. It's kind of hard to tell if the time is the same. Shooting this with something like a pocket watch on the sundial would be interesting, too. Similar shape but different "mechanisms".

This brings up an interesting question for me:
Since the Mac mounts Windows FW drives no prob, couln't you just move the PC's HD to a FW enclosure, and connect it to the iMac?

Excuse me, I was talking about consumer pickup trucks, not large16+ Ton HD shipping trucks.
For smaller American trucks, I see them everywhere, whether it's a landscaper/gardener, construction worker/contractor, auto parts vehicle, city vehicles, fire captain, emergency vehicle, plumber, or a whole host of telecomm/techie workers.
I think there will always be a considerable market for small to medium sized American trucks and maybe the US auto companies should focus mostly on those markets of small to mid-sized trucks (but not larger Isuzu, Mercedes, and Volvo delivery trucks) and also not try and take Honda, Lexus, Toyota, BMW, Nissan, Hyundai, Volvo, and Mercedes head on in sedans.
At least around my parts, I rarely see a Toyota, Honda, or Nissan small or mid-sized truck in the occupations listed above. At the same time, consumer sedans are mostly foreign car companies as well as those super large delivery trucks.

Question for folks who have gone (or purchased ticket voucher). From the looks of it, you buy a voucher, which you then redeem online for a ticket, correct? Can you buy the voucher now, but fill in the attendee ticket details at a later time? I'm going to buy, but there's the off chance I won't be able to attend, so I'd like to give the ticket to someone else. The ticket holder needs photo ID to get in, so they obviously can't use my ticket. So I'd have to wait until I know for sure to claim the voucher, or put the other developer's information in.
Can that be done? Or do I need to claim the ticket at time of purchase? Based on the recent track record of WWDC selling out in a week, I'd like to make the purchase ASAP. Thanks.

There is an advantage to the user and to Apple.
The advantage to Apple is that they OWN the connector and will or won't grant other companies the right to include that connector into their products. So you'll never see a Microsoft or Android phone sporting Apple's connector.
The user can drop their iDevice into a bedside radio/clock or into a slot in their car dash and have their iDevice automatically integrated into that appliance or vehicle.
This means when you set an alarm on your iDevice, your bedside radio knows it and wakes you with music or alert through the larger radio speakers. Your iPhone GPS can become part of your car's navigation system, while your iPhone can become also become a hand's free phone using your car's sound system. Plus, you still have all your alarms, Address Book, and calendar available to you via voice command.
Life is good for you, and in Appleland prosperity reigns. :)

EF-S 200mm on a 1.6 crop camera will yield the same image as an EF 200mm on a FF camera. If you put that EF 200 back onto the 1.6 camera, the image is different.

Woah... I would partition a 2TB SHXC card and use 1TB for Time Machine and the other half for Final Cut Pro! On freaking 3 square centimeters!
We need to keep our perspective here. Just because the spec supports cards with sizes up to 2TB, it does not mean that such cards are anywhere near to be released. It's just future-proofing. Yes, sizes of memory-cards will keep on increasing, but we will not get terabyte-cards overnight. Maybe in 5-7years or so.
Same thing happened with hard-drives. We got specs that supported hard-drives that were nowhere near to be released. Of course we then got news specs, with support for bigger drives, but even then those bigger drives were not anywhere close to be released.

I downloaded and installed it last night. Ran great. The default settings set everything to "Medium" for my computer. Ran completely smooth. No lag or issues. That game is awesome.
